"your a bit young to be married"

yesterday was the best day of the trip so far! we went on a great barrier reef cruise to michaelmas cay and part of the outer reef called paradise reef. when we arrived we handed the ticket in and for some reason it was in the name of "mr and mrs ward" the woman at the counter gave us a funny look and said "your a bit young to be married!"

after a 2 hour boat trip to the outer reef we stopped near michaelmas cay... we had signed up for a free 10 minute scuba dive but once we were down there we decided to stay on for the full half hour dive.

it was breathtaking! we saw practically all the characters out of 'finding nemo'... except, thankfully, the sharks! there were stingrays, clownfish, and plenty of brightly coloured fish that we couldn't name.

the reef itself was amazing too, so strange. we got to touch different parts of it too which was amazing and weird!

it was an awesome experience and one we will never forget!!

after the dive we got to go on the island itself...

michaelmas cay is a tiny island out in the great barrier reef and is internationally recognised as one of the most important bird nesting sanctuaries on the reef. It's home to over 20,000 sea birds.

the sand was white and the sea was crystal clear and warm! it was surrounded by reef and greg did some snorkeling... i had my camera with me and nowhere to leave it so couldn't.

i tried to get a good picture of how clear the water was and i think this was the best one we got, but it still doesn't do it justice. this island was amazing and we have never seen anything like it... and probably never will again!!

we couldn't take enough pictures... this is just a small number of what we took but there's way too many to go in the blog.

after leaving the island we had some lunch and set off for a short journey to paradise reef where we were able to do some snorkeling. this was amazing too. we got to see a huge turtle!!! it came really close to us and wasn't phased at all!

after an hour of trying to take in all we could of the reef we returned to the boat to head home.

it was such an amazing day and definitely made up for fiji, we still can't stop talking about it!

it does look really good. I'll try and get a shot of the water in Marple canal for comparison.

good pics on the beech, are you working out greg..........don't get too big. Pics look magic, Callum thinks you've gone to Spain because your at the beech. Make the most of the trips because the cricket looks as though it may not be memorable. Take care bro.
